ÉTYM. Répandu v. 1980; mot chinois.
Sports. Gymnastique chinoise (enchaînement lent de mouvements). || « Ce taï chi, la gymnastique quotidienne de centaines de millions de Chinois, est peut-être une des techniques de remise en forme mentale et physique les plus efficaces » (F Magazine, févr. 1981, p. 15).On dit aussi taï-chi-chuan [tajʃiʃwan].
